During Feb. 23 to 25, 2007, Okinawa Chuarumi Aquarium will hold its 3rd International Symposium, “The Deep Sea”, following its 2004 “Elasmobranch” and 2006 “Cetacea & Sirenia” Symposia At the Symposium, the Deep-sea World and its mysterious life forms will be revealed to you!
Our Deep-sea Exhibits are unique. Only Okinawa Churaumi aquarium has achieved long-term success in keeping such rare deep-sea species as the Blacksail Snake Mackerel (Thyrsitoides marleyi), the Ruby Snapper (Etelis coruscans), and Precious Corals (Corallium spp.)
21 deep-sea specialists from around the world (9 international, 12 Japanese) have been invited to present new discoveries as well as future research topics. Attendance at both the scientific presentations and public lectures are free. Please come to take advantage of this special chance!
